The Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School

Samantha Feller

Nineteen-year-old Samantha "Sammy" Feller graduated last spring from PA Cyber and is now joyfully pursuing her passion: performing. After a valiant effort to attend classes at New Brighton High School in the mornings and then drive 45 minutes into Pittsburgh for afternoon sessions at the Young Performers Institute for Musical Theater, she was tired and frustrated. "When my mother and I researched PA Cyber," she says, "we realized it would allow me to set up my own schedule. I graduated from both programs with great grades, and I had time to be part of both student and professional company shows."

Feller took math classes, an ancient history course, mythology — her favorite — along with classes related to the arts. "A music appreciation course helped me understand more about the history of classical and modern music, and I took both a media course and a clothing and textile class to help me in theater."

Last spring, after graduating more than a month early, Feller moved to Connecticut to work at Lake Compounce Theme Park. She teamed up with another performer and began a company called Ultimate Variety Entertainment, and they have been able to produce and star in shows for parks, fairs, festivals, and theaters. Feller and her company were just hired to perform six days a week in the burgeoning theater district of Branson, Missouri, in a variety show called "BLAST." Feller and her business partner will perform, and Feller will choreograph. "I am so proud of starting such a successful company at only 19," says a happy Feller. "I can't believe this is happening so fast, and I'm enjoying every second of it!"
